Seychelles and Saudi Arabia Explore New Avenues of Cooperation

New opportunities to strengthen air connectivity between Seychelles and Saudi Arabia were at the centre of discussions during a meeting between the Minister for Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, Ms. Veronique Laporte and the newly accredited Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Saad Abdullah Alnofaia, at Botanical House yesterday afternoon.

 

Minister Laporte congratulated Ambassador Alnofaia on his appointment and expressed her hope that his tenure would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations, particularly through expanded cooperation in transport, ports and civil aviation.

 

Discussions focused on avenues for establishing new air connectivity between the two countries, as well as capacity building between Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority in Seychelles (SCAA) and General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia (GACA) as well as other areas of mutual benefit in the area of civil aviation.

Ambassador Alnofaia was accompanied by First Secretary at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Kenya, Mr. Shakir Hassan Alsharif.

 

Also present at the meeting were the Principal Secretary for Ports and Civil Aviation, Mr. David Bianchi; Chief Technical Advisor, Department of Land Transport, Mr. Elvis Octave; Executive Director to the Minister, Ms. Vanessa Marie; Senior International Cooperation Officer, Ms. Nathanielle Soomery; Third Secretary and Desk Officer for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bilateral Affairs Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Ms. Elsa Lepathy; and Ms. Hannah Pragassen.
